SVP Negative and Film Scanner. I’ve browsed through several brands of scanners over the past months in search of a small yet efficient film scanner. And then I chanced upon the SVP brand that caught my attention.

This black negative and film scanner with a red line on the bottom part is similar in shape with the other compact models I’ve seen but it has four buttons on top and with an LCD screen. The price is cheap but the work it can do is more than the value I paid.

For a beginner like me, this unit is well worth it. There are several reasons why and its simplicity is just one of them. First off, the SVP negative and film scanner does not need a computer to store your images. Since it has an SD card, you can immediately and directly save the images you prefer. But you can still save them later to your computer if you feel the need to share them online or keep an online album.

Scanning is easy because of the negative and slide holder. Each holder can accommodate four frames but if you want to work continuously and a bit faster, it may be a good idea to buy additional film holders or trays.

An additional advantage is the built in LCD which allows you to view the images you’re working on and choose only those that you’d like to save. And even though it’s compact, it has the ability to produce quality images at 5 megapixels courtesy of its advanced scanning chip.
